端午節可謂中國傳統節慶中最具動感活力的節日。龍舟競渡，不單是端午節的傳統習俗，近年更發展為國際化的體育運動，成為香港每年一度的體育盛事。 早自一九六七年，赤柱居民聯誼會已開始舉辦具規模的龍舟競渡，時至今日，更發展為赤柱國際龍舟錦標賽，並逐漸得到各界的重視及支持。今屆賽事更獲得永明金融作為冠名贊助，誓必能吸引更多市民及旅客前來觀看。

為推廣這個國際矚目的活動，本會不斷精益求精，力求完善。今屆將嘗試於起點處設置浮台，以便各參賽隊伍於進入賽道時能保持清晰明確的距離。此外，本會更於碼頭設置一巨型銀幕，同步播放賽事情況及發放有關消息，令在場人士更能緊貼賽情，氣氛定必更熱鬧喧囂。 赤柱國際龍舟錦標賽能發展成為蜚聲國際的體育盛會，實有賴各政府部門、贊助單位、參賽健兒、各友好團體、嘉賓、義工及本會同寅的積極參與及鼎力支持。對於各界的濃情厚意，謹再致衷心謝意，並希望大家享受其中。

Tuen Ng Festival is always one of the most exciting Chinese traditional festivals. As dragonboating is a part of the tradition and more and more people enjoy participating in it, the Stanley Residents Association is honored to establish and organize this meaningful event, the Stanley International Dragonboat Championships, every year since 1967. The annual Stanley Dragon Boat Races grow in size, reputation and keep breaking new ground year after year. This year, we are excited to have Sun Life Hong Kong Limited as our title sponsor and over 230 teams will compete in one single day again, thus making Stanley Dragon Boat Championships one of the world's largest events of its kind. The racing was close and in every category the final winning margins were nail-bitingly small. Every year we try our best to make the race running smoothly and build a joyful atmosphere. This year, we set up floating pontoons at the starting point, which makes the teams go to lanes with precise distances amongst teams. Furthermore, we have set up a huge screen on the pier to let everyone involving in between and the atmosphere of the championship must be more intense with excitement. Without the great support from all participants, friends, assisting parties, officials, volunteers, sponsors, guests and VIPs (the most important one comes first), the Stanley International Dragonboat Championships would not run with such a great success. I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to all of them and hope everyone enjoy this great event.
