Chairman's message
Welcome to Stanley, and enjoy the festival with us.

The mammoth scale and the international renown of the Stanley dragon boat racing at Tuen Ng Festival is not only something for the Association to be proud of, but also the Stanley district, and Hong Kong as a whole. The event, together with the Stanley Short Course Races, has become major a listing for the international dragonboat racing calendar. As such, I much first send my gratitude to all participating athletes, enthusiastic supporting parties, volunteers and various sponsors who have joined hands to make this achievement possible.

Stanley Dragon Boat Races

Stanley, known by tourists across the world for its tightly packed streets filled with exciting shopping opportunities, is also known for its choice of restaurants and pubs, beautiful location and fresh air but, in recent years, it has also become famous for its annual Dragon Boat Races. Attracting more than 140 teams each competition over the last few years, the races are the highlight of the racing scene in Hong Kong, and are now recognised worldwide for the multinational makeup of the teams and the intensity and excitement of the competition.

Dragon boating, originally linked to the traditional Tuen Ng Chinese festival and the fishermen of the region, has now become an international sport. An event which attracts individuals, clubs and companies as participants and thousands of locals and visitors as sightseers, eager to watch the exciting drama as these long, elegant, exotic boats thrust through the waves of Stanley Bay.
