The Evolution of Stanley Dragon Boat Association

The Stanley Residents Association has always been deeply rooted in Stanley. Back in the early 1960s, when Stanley was still a humble fishing village, our journey began, forging an unbreakable bond with Dragon Boat racing.

A History of Growth Dragon Boat racing has always been the highlight of our year. By the 1970s, our dedication was recognised when the government granted land for a two-story clubhouse at the Stanley Bay waterfront.

However, the real transformation began in 2001. We reorganized and expanded our Dragon Boat Group, officially registering as the "Stanley Dragon Boat Association." That same year, the government granted us land at Stanley Main Beach to build a dedicated training base, allowing Stanley to play a pivotal role in the global development of the sport.

State-of-the-Art Facilities Our training base at Stanley Main Beach, operational since April 2006, boasts the largest dragon boat steel rack in Hong Kong. Custom-designed by the Association, this 4-story structure is equipped with lifting gears and can store over 36 dragon boats.

Breaking Records: From 200 to Over 300 Teams 2007 marked a significant era for us. We expanded our facilities with a new steel viewing platform and set a world record with 208 teams competing in a single day.

But our growth didn't stop there. In 2019, we achieved a massive new milestone by hosting over 300 teams in a one-day race event. This achievement not only shattered our previous records but also solidified Stanley's reputation as a premier destination for international dragon boat racing.

The Cradle of Dragon Boat Athletes Today, our fleet is the largest in Hong Kong, featuring 30 medium teak boats and 4 small boats.

Stanley Main Beach has long been regarded as the cradle of dragon boat athletes. With our robust infrastructure and rich history, we continue to nurture this tradition for future generations.

【赤柱故事】從漁港搖籃到世界級基地：赤柱龍舟協會的輝煌演變

赤柱，這個充滿歷史韻味的社區，不僅是我們的家，更是香港龍舟文化的發源地之一。回首六十年代初，赤柱仍是一個寧靜的小漁港，而「赤柱居民聯誼會」便是在那時起步，與龍舟結下了長達半世紀的不解之緣。

從漁港起步：早期的歲月 端午賽龍一直是本會每年的重頭戲。隨著社區的發展，我們的努力逐漸獲得社會認同。早在70年代，本會已獲政府批地，於赤柱灣海濱興建了二層式會所，為日後的發展奠定了基礎。

2001年：轉型與新里程 為了讓赤柱在全球龍舟運動中肩負起更重要的角色，2001年是一個關鍵的轉捩點。本會正式將龍船組改組及擴大，註冊成立為「赤柱龍舟協會」。同年，我們獲政府在赤柱正灘撥地，興建專屬的龍舟訓練基地，標誌著赤柱龍舟發展邁向專業化。

全港最強硬件：赤柱正灘訓練基地 自2006年四月正式投入服務以來，位於赤柱正灘的練習基地已成為我們的驕傲。這裡擁有全香港最大的龍舟鋼架：

• 獨家設計： 由本會自行設計的大型鋼架，配備起落裝置及倉儲配套。

• 驚人容量： 4層高的架構，可安放超過36艘龍舟。
  

屢創高峰：從200多隊到300隊的突破 2007年是我們極具里程碑意義的一年，當時我們見證了端午節當天208隊參賽的世界紀錄，並完成了觀景平台與科技配套的升級。

然而，我們的步伐從未停歇。隨著賽事規模不斷擴大，在2019年，我們再次刷新歷史，成功舉辦了超過300支隊伍參與的單日賽事。這不僅打破了過往的紀錄，更證明了赤柱作為國際級龍舟賽事中心的實力與魅力。

龍舟健兒的搖籃 時至今日，我們的船隊規模已冠絕全港——擁有30艘中龍及4艘小龍。

赤柱正灘一向被視為龍舟健兒的搖籃。這幾年基地的健康發展，為這份傳承使命提供了更佳的土壤。我們將繼續努力，讓赤柱的龍舟精神傳承下去，划向更廣闊的世界。
